“My love for coffee is owed to my father, Jose A. Fumagalli Saravia” confessed Mrs. Celeste Fumagalli to us when we first met her. “I have also been blessed with a great husband, Roberto Recinos, with whom I share this great passion for coffee, always providing me with his unconditional support”

Celeste inherited Finca El Aceituno almost 20 years ago and after several years of selling their coffee cherries through a middle man, the family was left devastated when this man took the entire harvest and never paid for it. Since the entire family depended on the coffee sales income for their expenses and to budget the next years harvest, it drove Celeste to find new opportunities to process coffee and export it by themselves. With lots of difficulties in August 2013, armed with courage, faith and support from her beloved family Celeste and Roberto, founded Gold Grains Co. soon they had built their very first wet mill in Conguaco, Jutiapa. Now processing their own coffee cherries, with the traditional machines built by Mr. Jose A. Fumagalli himself, the family was able to focus on exporting and connecting with the end consumer on their own. Soon after, the family invested in unique varieties such as Geishas, Pacamara, Maragogype, Anacafe14, Obata, Parainema, Tupi, CR95, Bourbon, Catuai, Yellow Catuai, Caturra and more. They are constantly monitoring and improving their processes in order to produce the best quality coffee. It all starts with the selection of the best seeds, an intensive agricultural management plan, strict and perfect harvesting routines of cherries at their peak of ripeness and multiple quality controls at the wet mill. We have developed a batch- processing module to maintain the traceability of each lot. Additionally, since the 2017-2018 crops, we are implementing the measurement of Brix degrees and the use of a 1000ml probe to measure sugar content and the quality in our lots.
